COOL BUT … LOW COST!

We never get tired of insisting to our Yurbbaners; Barcelona is a city chock full of cultural plans and offers. Concerts, cinema, theater, gastronomy, exhibitions, performances in hundreds of spaces scattered throughout the streets of this dynamic and spectacular city.

Our philosophy is Live as a Native and more than a philosophy, it is a mantra. With that in mind, this January and February when everything seems more difficult to us, we thought that instead of Blue Monday and “Hard January”, we´d propose the best low cost plans to ring in the first months of 2018.

If you have stayed with us you will know that our Porter & Sail digital concierge app is an absolute gem of a find.

This application for Apple and Android will allow you to plan your stay even before you arrive, detailing the hippest places, the hottest restaurants, museums, routes, shows, etc.

RE-READ, THE PLACE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE READING… LOW COST

You’re eco-friendly, you like libraries so you don´t have to always buy the books, and you’re on the hunt for a second-hand bookstore. In that case you can´t not visit Re-Read. You´ll find books from 3 euros on or even their offers of two books for 5. A bookstore where great care is paid down to the tiniest detail, you don´t have to expect the typical “used”  bookstore with the titles clumped together all willy-nilly and layered with dust. Re-Read is different. Oh! And know that you can also bring your own books, absolutely, if they are well maintained. There are several Re-Reads but our favorite is on Calle de la Diputació, 296.

«THE BEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR» IN THE FILMOTECA

In the Els millors films de l’any (Best films of the year) film series by the Filmoteca de Catalunya you can enjoy those billboard films that you missed, always at a much better price and with quiet in the theater, with no shouting or popcorn. A series that is so much more than just a good idea and that has been running since 2004. Its selection includes auteur films but also other more mainstream ones too.

We suggest you arrive early in case there is a queue and enjoy the delicious cafeteria (Plaça de Salvador Seguí, 1-9).

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF LORENA JIMÉNEZ

Is she from Barcelona? This is what you will be wondering when you see her photographs. Lorena could have been born in New York, San Francisco or California, places she has recently visited. Her urban language is universal, everyday, yet at the same time striking.

You can sneak into her world at the recently opened expo put on by La Casa de la Pradera. The site is found on Carrer Carretas 57 in the heart of the Raval in Barcelona.

Plans for everyone these cold months … And for all pocket sizes!
