For a future without Alzheimer!

At Yurbban Hotels, we continue to contribute with each grain of sand to local causes and organizations. This time, given the opening of the new Yurbban Passage hotel, we decided to join the Alzheimer’s investigation led by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation.

At the moment when his illness was detected and made public, Pasqual Maragall, mayor of the Olympic Barcelona and former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, decided to promote an investigation to overcome Alzheimer’s. The Foundation’s mission is to identify biomarkers in the starting stage when there are no symptoms of the disease – as it begins decades before it´s manifested – in order to prevent its occurrence.

Currently, more than 45 million people suffer from dementia worldwide and with the progressive aging of the population this figure is expected to increase to 130 million by 2050.

The Barcelona Beta Brain Research Center (BBRC) of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation started the Alfa (Alzheimer’s and families) project for the prospective follow-up of a number of cognitively normal people. To these volunteers who are between the ages of 45 and 75, a large quantity of tests (cognitive, biological samples, neuroimaging, etc.) will be done to characterize the pre-clinical stage (without symptoms) in depth of the disease in order to be able to design interventions that prevent its appearance.

With all these positive expectations ahead, as Yurbban Hotels we want to help find the key that opens the healing drawer. Join us!

1% of the profits from all the direct reservations we receive will be destined to this project. This way, if you book through our website at www.yurbban.com you will be joining this cause.

As Pasqual Maragall said: “I want to help defeat this disease. It hasn’t been written that it´s invincible.”

CONDITIONS: 1% of the total sales collected through our own web between the months of April and December of 2018 will be donated to this cause.
